Interesting facts about Hoover Dam
Hoover Dam, built to control the raging floods of the Colorado River, has additional facts about it. Although the dam was built for two main purposes, flood control and to generate electricity, some feel it was built for recreation, but that was actually a byproduct of the construction. The dam contains enough concrete to build a two lane highway from San Francisco, CA to New York, NY. Boulder City was built specifically to provide a place for workers to live while building the dam. And, My last fact for this post is that there are NO bodies buried in Hoover Dam, as the decomposition of the body would weaken the dam, and when pouring the sections, the pours were only five feet deep.
