Eureka - the full circle
Eureka - the beautiful 1875, narrow gauge 4-4-0, steam locomotive, that resides in Las Vegas, NV, has come full circle with the efforts of her great owner, Dan Markov. Dan spent many hours researching the locomotive he found sitting, rusting and a burned out hulk of an engine at the Old Las Vegas fort near railroad pass just off US 95. With a great bit of luck he was able to acquire the original drawings for this class of Baldwin locomotive and a number of other items helpful in the rebuilding of this elegant engine. over the coming months I will add more information about this great little engine to my blog. In the mean time, please visit the Eureka at the Nevada Railroad Museum Santa train run the next two weekends in Boulder City, NV; Eureka will be steamed up, and running (12/12-13 & 12/19-20).
